Interactive Potts Model

What is this?

Here you will find a live simulation in which you can pick the system temperature \(T\) and magnetic field strength \(H\) of the \(q\)-Potts model for different values of \(q\), which is the number of states available to a lattice site. The lattice evolves in your browser as you watch, so you can change \(T\) and \(H\) at any moment and see how it responds.

Over our 2022 Christmas break Mikey Whelan, Luke Hodgkiss and I independently studied Prof. Tong's Part III notes on statistical field theory. I found the concept of criticality interesting so I proposed to study in more detail the behaviour of the Potts model and came up with this fun way of presenting the topic.
